About IACAS



ξ Institute of Acoustics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IACAS) was established in 1964.
ξ aims to establish one of world's leading R&D center for knowledge innovations in acoustics and in correlated DSP technologies,
ξ to fulfill the nation's needs in acoustics and to make corresponding contributions to the country's sustainable developments.

ξ IACAS is well equipped with modern facilities such as audio-frequency acoustics laboratory,
ξ high intensity sound laboratory, AMEMS laboratory, underwater measurement laboratory,
ξ ultrasonic testing laboratory, verbal acoustics laboratory and acoustic experimental ships with essential equipment.
ξ Currently there are 635 staff members in IACAS,
ξ among whom there are 6 Academicians of Chinese Academy of Sciences,

ξ IACAS is also an institution to provide education and training for graduate students in the first-level disciplinary of acoustics.

The Brief Introduction and Area Planning of National Aviation Industrial Base
ξ The Xi’an Yanliang National Aviation Hi-Tech Industrial Base (thereinafter referred to as National Aviation Industrial Base or Base)

Weinan Pucheng General Aviation Industrial Park


ξ In order to bring general aircraft manufacturing and related industries into dimensions and
ξ occupy the high starting point of China’s general aviation industry,
ξ National Aviation Industrial Base currently cooperates with Weinan municipality,
ξ has started the construction of Pucheng general aviation industrial park,
ξ mainly provides conditions for execution of projects like general aircraft assembly,
ξ pilot training, general aviation performance and flight amusement.
ξ Currently, an initial scheme has been made and all preparation works are undertaking.
ξ The entire general aviation industrial park will be constructed in three phases while planned in one time.
ξ Planned area is 20 square kilometers.
ξ Phase one mainly develop airport, total area is 6.5 square kilometers with 4 runways.
ξ Aviation school, aviation club etc will be placed along the runway;

An Introduction to NPU


ξ is China’s only research-oriented, multi-disciplinary, and international university of science and technology,
ξ which simultaneously excels at Aeronautics, Astronautics, and Marine Engineering

ξ emphasizes science and technology, while harmoniously developing the fields of management, humanities, economics, and law.

ξ The predecessors of Northwestern Polytechnical University were the State Northwestern Engineering College,
ξ formed by Beiyang Engineering College, Engineering College of Peking University,
ξ Engineering College of Northeast University and Jiaozuo Engineering College in 1938), and
ξ Huadong Aeronautical College, formed by the Aeronautical Engineering Department of Jiaotong University, Aeronautical Engineering Department of Nanjing University, and Aeronautical Engineering Department of Zhejiang University in 1952)

ξ State Northwestern Engineering College and Huadong Aeronautical College joined to become the Northwestern Polytechnical University in 1957.
ξ In 1970 the Air Force Engineering Department of Harbin Military Engineering College was merged into NPU.

ξ During the “Seventh Five-year Plan”(1986-1990) and the “Eighth Five-year Plan” (1991-1995),
ξ NPU was one of the 15 universities for key construction by the State Council.
ξ In the “Ninth Five-year Plan” (1996-2000) period, it was one of the first universities to be funded by Project 211,
ξ and it was one of the national key constructions of Project 985 during the “Tenth Five-year Plan” (2001-2005).
ξ It is also one of the first Chinese universities that have set up Graduate Schools and University Science Parks.

ξ The NPU campus covers an area of 2,917 mu.
ξ The University offers 53 undergraduate programs, 101 graduate programs, 57 doctoral programs and ten postdoctoral research stations.
ξ It also has the authority to confer the MBA and Master of Engineering Degrees.

ξ Currently, NPU has 1430 full and associate professors and senior engineers,
ξ among whom there are 15 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Chinese Academy of Science,
ξ five foreign academicians, 12 Yangtze Rive Scholars and 320 Ph.D. advisors.

ξ Since its foundation, NPU has trained more than 100,000 students including 2,000 Ph.D. and 13,400 Master students.

About the School


ξ could hardly be better situated for the research and study for Aeronautics
ξ With its location in Xi’an, the School is in a unique position to combine the best of the aeronautical industries in the city.
ξ The predecessors of the School are the Aircraft Department and the Civil Aviation Engineering College.
ξ The Aircraft Department was founded in 1952 by merging three Aeronautics Departments of Shanghai Jiaotong University, Nanjing University and Zhejiang University.
ξ The next big expansion occurred in 1970 when the Aircraft Department of Harbin Engineering College merged into the Department.
ξ With the approval of the AVIC (Aviation Industries of China) and CAAC (Civil Aviation Administration of China),
ξ Civil Aviation Engineering College was jointly founded by NPU, AMECO (Aircraft Maintenance & Engineering Corporation) and CNWA (China Northwest Airline) in 1994.
ξ Another big development was the Aircraft Department’s merger with the Civil Aviation Engineering College in 2003.
