~ The Sensor Web is an independent network of wireless, intra-communicating sensor pods,
~ deployed to monitor and explore a limitless range of environments.
~ Adaptable instrument can be tailored to whatever conditions it is sent to observe.

~ (1)~ A pod monitors the surroundings near the shuttle launch pad.
~ (2)~ The mother pod on top of the trailer communicates with one of the daughter pods in the distance.
~ (3)~ Aquatic Sensor Web as seen from tour bus route
~ (4)~ Sensor Web pod monitors environmental conditions near the Space Shuttle sitting on Pad 39A.
~ (5)~ The Sensor Web pods show no ill effects after 5 months of coastal weathering.
~ (6)~ An alligator patrols the culvert, keeping a wary eye on his newest neighbor, a JPL Sensor Web pod.
~ (7)~ Pod 6 monitors the culvert area near the shuttle launch pad.
Antarctica:
~ (8)~ Expedition Leader Nancy Chabot deploys Sensor Web pod 2. Note another pod awaiting deployment in the snowmobile.
~ (9)~ The pod-like device atop the snowmobile mast is, in fact, a GPS unit.
~ (10)~ Tripod mounts were used where it was not possible to anchor bamboo stakes.
~ (11)~ Bamboo is used for mounting stakes as they are both light-weight and resilient to the harsh Antarctic environment.
